Are you a massage or wellness studio in Oakland, Berkeley or some other lovely corner of the San Francisco Bay Area? Are you looking for a wellness brand photographer? If so, I’m here to help you elevate your business and attract more of the right clients with images that share your professionalism, skill, and humanity. That is exactly what I did for Body Integrations, an Oakland based massage therapy studio run by the wonderful Jessica Park.
Here are a few of my favorite shots from the session. And if you want to learn more about brand photography for wellness professionals you can read all about it below.

The Power of Brand Photography for Wellness Professionals, Massage Therapists, & Healers
As a wellness professional, your work is all about creating a healing, and transformative experience for your clients. But does your online presence reflect that? In today’s digital and AI infused world, first impressions happen online. Whether you’re a massage therapist, Reiki healer, acupuncturist, or yoga instructor, high-quality brand photography will support your business. Having good photos is a great first step in helping potential clients connect with you before they even walk through the door. And sure, there are a million options for stock photos – but let’s face it, having a human touch is sort of important. And it’s what makes you special, so the photos you use to present yourself should also be uniquely yours.
Best uses for your wellness brand photography
- Attract more of the right clients – Authentic, high-quality images build trust and credibility. Having images that capture your unique gifts as a human will bring in more of the right clients. You know that client who shows up on time, and trusts your ability to help them? Yea, let’s get you more of those.
- Showcase Your Healing Space – Let potential clients visualize the soothing environment you offer. Having images that showcase the space – maybe even the entrance or the front door – will put your clients at ease. When they arrive they will feel calmer and less stressed knowing they are exactly where they are meant to be. It’s the little things that really add up to make a difference.
- Enhance Your Marketing – Use photos for your website, social media, business cards, and online directories. A picture is worth a thousand words – right? When we work together we create images that fit perfectly into all the spaces you need them. And I’m always psyched to share all the things I’ve learned over the years as a small business owner. If you have questions I’m here to help answer them!
Showing your business in the right light.
Yes – all puns intended here folks. I’ll never pass up the opportunity to make a totally bad joke. But, all jokes aside, lighting is really important when it comes to your brand photography.
For Body Integrations, Jessica and I worked together to identify what her needs were for the photos on her website. We wanted to create images that reflect the calm and inviting atmosphere of her studio. So I created soft, natural looking light. Using both the existing light and creating light where it was needed.
Often a space looks good to us, but when you try to photograph it, well it just doesn’t really work – our eyes have a much wider range than a camera. That’s where creating light comes in. Creating light is one of my favorite skills and really brings the images to life. Wether we want a soft, bright image, something that is dark and dreamy, or bold and popping – all of that is possible with a little light magic.
Working with color to create the right aesthetic for you.
Thanks to my love of color and color theory I know exactly how to create a color palette that will tell the story of your brand – in this case, a soothing and professional aesthetic. I guide my clients through everything from wardrobe to what props should be in the images. By curating a color palette that reflects who you are we can help your clients truly see you.
What to Expect in a Wellness Brand Photoshoot
When I work with wellness professionals, my goal is to capture the essence of their practice. A typical session includes:
✔️ Strategy Session – The key to every successful branding photoshoot is a little bit of planning in advance. I’ll guide you through identifying your goals and needs. As well as how to make the most of our time together.
✔️ Lifestyle Portraits – Most of my wellness clients opt for natural images of them in action, whether performing a massage, leading a meditation, or preparing a treatment. These images are taken in a way that feels authentic. I avoid overly staged or posed shots. And don’t worry, you don’t need to be a model – I’ve got you.
✔️ Space & Ambience Shots – I always love showcasing the atmosphere of your studio or workspace. With my extensive background in architectural and interiors photography I’m able to capture the essence of your space. This way when clients arrive they already feel like they are in a familiar and safe place.
✔️ Client Interaction Moments – (With consent) to demonstrate the client experience. Most of my clients will have a friend or longtime client volunteer for the photoshoot. But if you don’t have anyone available I am happy to help you source a model that fits your client profile.
✔️ Detail Shots – Photographing essential oils, crystals, massage tables, or any other tools that reflect your practice can be a nice way to create visual content that supports your marketing. If you have your own product line I also offer product photography. You can see some examples of that here.
